Finally got fibre installed yesterday (300MB!

So my question is can I now get rid of our PSTN lines and switch to VOIP?

Given that the hardware has been around ages (although my unit is 6 months old) is it worth the investment or should I look at a different platform?

Cheers, Jez.

There is a voip module available for your unit and they do work well. You would need to source a S/H one though. As an alternative you can look at the eMG80 which is a direct replacement for the LDK24 allowing you to use the existing phones. They have 2 channels of voip built in by default and can be increased to 16 channels if need be.

Thanks, The Nexer is only 6 months old, so what is the number of the card I need to buy?

The other question I have is how, do I use my extisting PST numbers, so that if
I get a call it routes over IP rather than copper?

Cheers, Jez

Hi Jez,
You will need to order SIP trunks from a SIP provider and they will arrange, at your request, for the PSTN lines to be ported over to SIP trunks. SIP Trunks are the VoIP equivalent of PSTN/ISDN. This process needs to be planned carefully and in the correct order otherwise you'll loose your numbers and lines and it could be a right balls up. There will also noeed to be config/port forwarding done in your firewall/router. BUT before you do any of the above ensure your phone system is ready to support SIP.
You could really do with getting a phone system provider/installer in to help. Possibly ditch the Nexer for a new gen system.
Regards
Mark
