LG CD-RW CED-8080b problem

something is wrong with my cdrom, everytime i want to put in a blank disc in to burn something the computer locks up it also locks up when i put in like a game, i check in bios and everything and i see the name of the drive in there and even in the device manager. im not sure whats wrong.

Please provide more information about your system.. i.e. operating system, what other hardware you have connected, etc.

i have windows 98se

and the only other thing i have is dvdrom which i can put in a cd and it wont freeze

Computer Manufacturer (if custom system, then Motherboard maker)
CD Burning Software w/version number (i.e., Nero, Roxio, etc.)

i have a HP Pavilion and i use nero version 5.5.10.28

Nothing on HP's website - how much memory do you have in this PC? How much available hard drive space?

Keep in mind that burning CDs consumes a lot of CPU, so if you're low on memory or swap space you can have this type of issue.
