Hi all,
I need some help or advice with my Aria 24 system, as I have a couple of problems that I am not sure about.
System is Aria 24 (A) - using 4 CO lines via ATA for VoIP lines (Can't afford VOIM ! )
Trans 72 says "TE66P-3.7Dd JUL/07 TELSTRA "

1 - SLTs are not ringing. SLTs are on STA 216-218. Dial 216 and you hear the ringback tone, and relay inside clicking, but the handset does not ring. Volume for ringer is on and at highest volume.
2 - Offnet forward works, sometimes. CO Line 1 rings, and then forwards to System Speed 2001, on CO Line 4. Once the call ends off-net, the CO Line 4 stays jammed on, with Line 1 as well. Not sure what is wrong there...
3 - Upgrade software ? How do I do this? And should I do this?
4 - Do I need any special hardware to wire up the External Pager on the multipurpose relay ?
5 - Currently I am using SLT5 as Station 8642, forwarded to VMIB to serve as a voicemail station. Is there a way to program a flex key so it will flash when 8642 has a listed message, so I do not have to dial 8642*8642# to log in to check messages from other DKT's ?

Thanks in advance!

Just so you know , this has caused me headache in the past if you can get a 9 way to 9 way lead and butcher it , your baud rate settings are good as above all it needs are pins 2,3&5 connected pin to pin, reset the system with the soft reset button and see how you fair as have experienced this loads of times where the com port locks. If you don't want to take the lid of the kit to reset use pgm450.

Also one other thing I did to resolve was upgrade to 3.8/9

have you tried connecting via serial using Hyperterminal or putty etc? I use terraterm as it detects the usb port.

You should be able to connect using the same baud settings as PCADMIN, hit enter and get a reply from the PABX.

If that works you may new a newer PCADMIN. If not it could be seial port issues or a faulty port.

I tried to connect via HyperTerminal on the dinosaur computer and it just sat there. In about 4 hours when I have more time I will go and try reboot the system with the serial cable connected. I tapped a whole bunch of keys but there was no response on screen from Hyperterminal. Is there any command that I should be trying ?

Connecting via LDK PCADMIN isn't the only thing that won't talk.
I tried to Download the Database off it as well.

It said
"Accessing System...
ENTER was send . . . Od
ENTER was send . . . 0d
ENTER was send . . . 0d
Connect to system fail
Disconnecting from Serial Port
Disconnect from Serial Port OK"

So that was a flop.

Monty - I am trying to upgrade the software! :p Trying to get to 3.8 / 3.9 !

There are no commands to try if you cannot connect. At the very least, if you are connected corectly ( baud rate + 8N1 ), when you reboot the PABX something should show on your terminal.

If you get nothing, then PCAMIN won't work.

I guess you don't have a back up due to this problem. Otherwise a default of the PABX would be a good test.

Funny thing being that I just did default the PABX recently! I wiped it completely 2 days ago!
I'll try what you suggested in a few hours time and post back, but I'm not holding high hopes. I found a LANU card, so I am HOPING to God that works when it gets here. It should be here tomorrow Australian Eastern time..

Thermus - I did a System Reset (PGM 450 F15) and had the serial cable connected via HyperTerminal. Nothing at all came up

it certainly sounds like your serial port is dead.

Are your slt extns ringing yet? you could have a faulty power supply or motherboard.

SLTs not ringing yet. I talked to an Aria tech who confirmed that it sounds like the RGU for the SLTs died in a power spike a long time ago before I bought the system second-hand. This is why I have the thing protected by an Uninteruptable Power Supply (UPS) and also so I can stay on the phone when the power is out! [bigsmile]

I think it will cost $150 AU to replace to power supply, so it's going to have to wait. A LANU card is on the way to me there, so whilst it is on the way - is there anything I should know about the upgrade process via LAN?
Is it literally just click Connect (LAN) and then select IPLDK Upgrade from LDK Tools ?

Correct , just be aware that the backup batteries on these units do not re-charge (i know you have a UPS but just be aware that it could loose its programming if unplugged .... so always keep a recent backup , after the upgrade you will need to activate the features from the version you have gone to in PGM 452 by selecting each relevant flex key as a habit i always just go right up from V2 to the release i am on.

Thanks all for your help to date,
I installed the LANU card and now have software AU66P-C.9Ec DEC/10 AUSTRALIA" on here [bigsmile]

I've discovered that I now have a Hunt Group VM box, so now I have more questions.
I want a flex key to flash when there is a VMIB message waiting on Hunt 761.

Here is the configuration so far.
Hunt 760 rings and overflows to 761 after 15 seconds
761 rings for 20 seconds then overflows to Hunt VM.

Access Hunt VM by dialling 761 and then the Hunt Group.

Ideas?

Never mind, I found the setting in the PC Admin settings, the flex button is now programmed :)

One new thing and an old thing as well:

Can you send a CO call back in to the CCR menus?
And the VMIBE card isn't quite behaving or I programmed something wrong. If a station is busy, I want it to say "Station is busy", not queue the CO call on the busy station.

EG: Call comes in via DISA on CO line 01. Stations 210 and 211 are busy on the phone. Customer call is routed to Station 211.
The customer call used to hear "Station is busy - please try again!". Now the customer just hears the ringback tone and then shortly afterwards the automated message "The station is not answering" and it immediately drops the call!

I want to get it to:
1 - Transfer to the Attendant if there is no answer (VMIBE card should prompt customer the call is going to Xfer)
2 - State "Station is busy - please try again" if the destination station is busy

Thanks for everything so far :)

After tinkering around a little more in PC Admin, I wasn't able to get the CCR to work the way I want it to.
Here is a video showing the problem I am experiencing

Line 01-02 enters CCR menu and the calls to busy stations queue. I do not want this to happen
Station 219 is in DND, and the "Do Not Disturb, please try again" message plays. This is normal
Station 213 and 214 are busy on ICM call - but the CCR doesn't provide "Station is busy, please try again" error. The call just Camps on to the station, as demonstrated.

I'm attaching the database in the hope that someone can look at it and tell me where I am going wrong.

I even wiped the system completely, initialized in PGM 452 to version 3.9, then PGM 450 reset and all settings cleared, re-uploaded the firmware, and then reconfigured the settings. There must be something I am missing ...

are the slt's still not ringing? sounds like the ring generator has failed in the system.

It does appear to be the case! It's going to cost a lot of money for a replacement power supply to replace the RGU, so I'll have to deal with it in the interim until I can replace it.

Anyone have any ideas about what's wrong with the CCR and it not telling the caller the station is busy though ?

Found some release notes for Software 3.9

Extended Call Waiting Call Waiting feature is allowed to all incoming call

Operation:
1. DID incoming
A. A DID incoming call is routed to busy Station 100
B. The DID incoming call goes to waiting state with LCD change and DID flashing rate

Programming:

In short – I had to turn off Call Wait, which I didn't even know existed.
Thanks for your help anyways!
