Hi all,
I need some help or advice with my Aria 24 system, as I have a couple of problems that I am not sure about.
System is Aria 24 (A) - using 4 CO lines via ATA for VoIP lines (Can't afford VOIM ! )
Trans 72 says "TE66P-3.7Dd JUL/07 TELSTRA "

1 - SLTs are not ringing. SLTs are on STA 216-218. Dial 216 and you hear the ringback tone, and relay inside clicking, but the handset does not ring. Volume for ringer is on and at highest volume.
2 - Offnet forward works, sometimes. CO Line 1 rings, and then forwards to System Speed 2001, on CO Line 4. Once the call ends off-net, the CO Line 4 stays jammed on, with Line 1 as well. Not sure what is wrong there...
3 - Upgrade software ? How do I do this? And should I do this?
4 - Do I need any special hardware to wire up the External Pager on the multipurpose relay ?
5 - Currently I am using SLT5 as Station 8642, forwarded to VMIB to serve as a voicemail station. Is there a way to program a flex key so it will flash when 8642 has a listed message, so I do not have to dial 8642*8642# to log in to check messages from other DKT's ?

Thanks in advance!

1. Do your SLT sockets have Capacitors in them or if your using CAT5 then are you using master baluns?
2. If your using an ATA then I would guess that your open loop disconnect timer needs changing. When connecting BT lines in the UK this timer needs to be set to 05(500ms). Might need to test with various times.
3.Upgarde the software via the admin tool and use the next version up which should be 3.8. Using PGM452 to initialise the new software via keyset programming is required. Do not do this part via the PC admin tool.
4.UK 3.9 software on the IPLDK20 allowed group voicemail and the flashing indication which you require but I am unsure if your system can go to that version, if available at all. Looks the same kit but software availability for other countries may be limited.

Ok, Press Trans *#..... TRANS/PGM..... the transfer key?.......sigh!

Eats,

Not 100% sure what you mean by Master Baluns, so I took a photo of the guts of the system in the hope it might help you
SLTs are plugged directly in to the the SLT5-SLT8 ports. SLT doesn't ring, but if you dial the SLT, it will answer if you pick it up...

I found that the Unsupervised Conference timer was the one responsible, so I changed that from 10 to 05 minutes, so the CO lines disconnect after 5 minutes when the inbound call is forwarded Off-Net.

The SLTs will need a modtap or balun which has a built in capacitor which will make the phone ring.

Google Master balun and select images. Its the first couple that you need. Alternatively wire the SLT ports upto 2/1 sockets and plug the handsets into them.

I don't think I need a Master Balun - all the connections here on all the phones are RJ11 and RJ45.
How do you mean wire it 2/1 ?

I'm having absolutely no luck trying to get the Aria 24 to talk to PC Admin via the Serial Cable. It just won't talk!
Any advice?
Checked PGM 174-F1, Baud 19200 - matches the PC baud on the COM port.

When connecting via LDK PCADMIN, I choose SIO connect, and then set COM3, 19.2k baud - it asks for a password (I didn't have an admin password set on ADMIN programming - so I set one as 2311), enter pass 2311 and it says "Check your connection device!

Hi

Been a long time since I connected via serial. Try 9600 and take the password out of the system and hit enter when asked for the password. Check that the 175 is correct for com port access for pc admin.

In the UK our SLTs have 431a plugs rather than rj45 or rj11. These plug into a compatible socket with capacitor or to a master/PABX balun which gives ringing to the handset. The LG LKA200 don't need a capacitor to ring so if you can get hold of them you can wire them straight into the system. apparently all new BT SLt's have built in capacitors now too.

PGM175 shows all settings on COM1
Tried different baud, 9600 still no luck connecting. Take out password and STILL getting the same error

I don't know much about BT connections or 431a plugs., as I live in Australia!
According to the installation manual, my cable touches the RING and TIP pins (Pins 4,5) so it should work. It just doesn't!

I am beginning to think I am going to need a LANU card, but those things cost a mint to get here at ~$100 AUD (50 GBP)

One other thing I thought I would ask:

On Weekend mode for trialing, I have a CCR table setup through DISA, COL 01-02.
If a call comes through those lines, it hits the CCR and VMIB routes the call. Is it possible to send a call back in to the CCR table if it came to the wrong extension, or would the caller have to call again?

Thanks :)

I think you would need to tinker with the DDi Destination in pgm 167. No answer destination but I don't know if you can play a vmib message. I think once it goes to an extn it will ring out then follow PGM167 which is system wide (works on Day/Night/Weekend/any extension.

I think! Worth a test onsite though.

Getting software isn't the major problem, but the huge problem I am having with upgrading is getting the Aria to talk to the computer wit a Serial cable, and it won't have a bar of it! See earlier. Software just can't see it there... :(

I bought a Female to female serial cable on the internet so I could connect the cable (system port and PC port are both male sockets)!
How do I find out what "line" I need and which is TX/RX/GND ? I am assuming I have to pull the cable apart, or is there a way to make a cable?

Here is my current connection settings:
Aria
PGM 162 - Admin Password .... (Not set)
PGM 174 - 19200 baud, Flex 2-4 are default
PGM 175 - All settings to ( 1 ) COM01

LDK PC ADMIN
COM3
19.2k baud
Parity bits: None
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Nothing in flow settings marked/checked.

I've already got the software waiting to be loaded on to the Aria - just got to get it to talk

Ovs time delay but i will test a serial connection to a 20 in the morning and let you know(UK Time).

Cheers

That'll will be this evening AU time :) . Can you take a picture of the cable you use and show me ?

Thanks!

Yeah no worries. If i get it working ;-)

Tried using a Null Modem cable (Suspect it is the wrong kind of cable) and booted an old computer with a physical serial port (Not USB -. Serial). Still no luck, though it did sit there for a long time trying to talk to it.

I'm going to have to get a LANU card, because the electronics stores around here haven't a bloody clue what I am asking them for. The other thing being that both ends of the serial cable have to be female too...
