I am using a Lexar Digital Film Reader (Parallel Port Reader)to read pics from 16MB SmartMedia Card . The Event viewer shows the error on startup
"The following boot-start o system-start driver(s) failed to load: cdiskx"
I have installed the EPP Parallel Port Flash ATA Reader and connected the device to the Parallel Port but the driver within SCSI Adapters is "not started"

Does Device Manager show a ECP Printer Port or just a general Printer Port? If it does not show ECP then you may have to switch modes in the BIOS setup to put the port into EPP/ECP mode. Make sure that the port is operational in it's current mode and does not have resource conflicts with both the IRQ and DMA channels. Also set the LPT port for 0x378h if you have a choice - you never know if the driver expects LPT1 to be the first available address.

What does the Device Manager report as an error on the driver? Resource conflict? Resource in use? Let us know Your mileage may vary...
