Hi !

A year ago we got some 15 patch panels installed in a new building and we are having problems with it since the first day. We are losing contact on all jacks at random, or when slightly touching the connector and testing showed that the loss of contact is due to the loss of signal on only FIRST PIN ?!!

Panels are model : 33264 Panel FTP Cat.5e 24xRJ 1U, by LEGRAND manufacturer.

The company that did all the installation work claims that patch panels are ok, and that patch cords ( that we made by ourselves aren't good) but we can't believe that LEGRAND patch panel can work ONLY with their original patch cord cables ?! Is that possible ?

Had anyone of you worked or had some experiences with these panels ?

At this point I would cut my losses Pabxer and buy a patch panel and start redoing this myself. Buy good quality patch cables that are certified, and start re doing these connections.

This could be one of many things and the only way to truly resolve this is to start fixing the most obvious and work your way out. The patch panel and patch cables is where I would start. If the first panel you install starts repairing the jacks that are dead, I would contact P&S and let them know that you have possibly received a bad batch. I have contacted their technical support group several times and they have always been more than helpful.

I use Amp Patch panels and seldom have any problems. (406330-1), but like has been stated here during the course of this thread "use something that has been made from a reputable manufacture".
