This is a strange one. We have a customer with a Legend (I think) R4. They had a problem with their analog lines possibly from a power failure. We replaced the card and did a board renumber and they came back up - no problem.

Here is the current problem. When you dial into the system it goes to an 007 MLM card AA. Consistently on every 7th call (or so) instead of getting the AA, the caller just hears dialtone. It doesn't appear to be DISA tone as you can't break it. I checked the members in 770 to see if there was an extra member but there isn't. I know the call is hitting the switch because all of their calls come in on a T1 and the T1 card goes yellow when the call with the dialtone comes in. I have not replaced the T1 card yet but usually if there is a problem with the T1 card it will be on every port or call not just the 7th call in. also, they are saying that they have sporadic problems with outbound and inbound faxes. I couldn't see any issues when dialing out a bunch of times.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this?

Thanks

Have you checked the Error Log for any alarms? Is the T1 configured as a PRI or a conventional DS1?

You can check each channel for proper operation by cycling thru the Pool(s) for any non working trunks.

Hope this helps!

It is configured as a regular T1, not a PRI.

It is currently set up for Linear hunt. Do you suggest setting it up as circular hunt to cycle through?

Thanks for your help.

Are the lines being answered by the AA in a pool? If so I would check the pool to make sure it contains no dead lines - and that lines that should be there - are in fact all there.

dostrow,

The circular pattern for outgoing is better because all trunks get used more offen since it cycles thru the Pool as opposed to linear where you would need ten trunks inuse to land trunk 11. Then if you have one go bad it would show up sooner as a problem. Also less chance of "glare" or a "head on" collision with an inbound call.

If your trunks all have numbers assigned to them, then you can call each one to check the inbound status. If it has a different configuration like SuperTrunk™, then you will need to contact your service provider or open a trouble ticket with repair service to provide some cooperative testing to isolate and fix any problems.

Jim;

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to try and replace the T1 card just to rule that out. Let me know if you have any other thoughts on where this may be coming from.

Thanks.
