Legend PRI can't dial out

I'm having a problem with dialing out over a PRI on a Legend system. If I use ARS and dial 9 then the number, after the first two digits dialed I get "call denied" on the display and fast busy tone. If I try to bypass ARS by dialing the pool # that the PRI trunks are in, I get fast busy immediately. Inbound calls are working fine, no problem there. Anyone have any ideas?

The first thing I would do is to print the PRI tables and see if anything is not set up correctly.

I was wondering if you were going to ask me that. I'm not on site right now, but I do have a backup on my laptop. Can I print from the backup?

You would have to load it on a surrogate switch.

Is the switch running?

What kind of mail?

Decided to go out to the customer and get all the print info. Since you asked, it is an Audix voice mail. I also have some loop start lines connected to the switch which you can dial out on fine. Here is the PRI info:

sugstech,

I didn't mean for you to go out of your way.

Either way.

What I see looks good to me.

Perhaps the Dial Tone Vendor could see if they see you sending digits.

You could take one line out of the pool and see if it works when assigned to an extension.

Otherwise, I think the provider is missing something.

It needs to be NI2 with them I think.

Wasn't out of my way, customer is very close to where I live. I was thinking I needed to do this anyway so I could sift through everything. Do you think something in ARS could be affecting this? If I dial the ARS access code, "9", it lets me then dial two digits and I get "call denied" on the display of the phone. If I dial the pool access code directly "890", I don't get the chance to dial any more digits, just an immediate fast busy. SBC is the dialtone provider and the circuit started out as NI2 and we had the same problem, then I found a tech note on the Legend and PRI setup which says the circuit needs to be NI1 if its coming from a DMS100 which it is. Anyway, it acts exactly the same either way. The SBC tech also said that the DMS100 has a setting to emulate a 5ESS which I am wondering if we should try. I havn't tried the single trunk thing so I will next time I am there. I've also tried swapping pool groups between the PRI lines and the LOOP start lines. The loops work in either group, the PRI's don't.

There is one last thing that is in the back of my mind that I'm wondering about. I moved this switch from another location where they originally had it networked with tie lines to another Legend across the steet. I found this out after the fact. The T1/PRI card was already in the system and programmed for that purpose before I moved it, even though they had closed that site down some time ago. I never checked to see what programming was already on it, I just followed the steps to set it up as a PRI for primary inbound/outbound access. Could it be that I needed to tear down any original programming before setting it for this? The only thing I remember is that in GS/LS/DS1 wher you set the type, it was set for T1 until I changed it to PRI.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestions and if anything else pops up in your mind, let me know.

I am assuming you did check to see that these NEW lines are now in the correct pool.

Also, when you do set up a line you can access, observe the Lights on the T1 card.

If you successfully access a line, you get an amber/yellow light.

I am aware of a problem with 517M15 cards when used in a system with 016 Modules. However, that would cause this T1 to totally crash.

On PRI, Telco can monitor the digits you dial, and then tell you if there is something wrong with what they see. HAve them monitor and tell you. As MerMan says, if there is no yellow light, your issue is at home.

I've been taking the lines in and out of 3 different pools to try and get them to work, with no success. In this switch, the trunks are numbered 8101 on up. The PRI lines are numbered on the printout 8125 - 8147, the first 23 ports on that card. These are the lines that I've been trying so I am sure I have the right lines.

As far as the lights go on the 100D card, I've seen the yellow light when an inbound call comes in, but no light when trying to dial out. When you say the problem is at home if I don't get a yellow light, do you mean the Legend?
Also, I have no lights when the card has no calls and is idle which I assume is correct. I'm used to other systems that give me status lights as well, not just a light if the card is busy.

THIS IS ALL TELLING:

"yellow light when an inbound call comes in, but no light when trying to dial out"

Your system is NOT accessing the lines.

Print ARS now and see what it shows, Print POOLS as well.

There is something rotten in Denmark, NO, MAKE THAT LEGEND that is not routing the calls to the PRI facilities.

OOPS, Almost forgot, the Carrier could be blocking outbound calls, but they should be able to tell you that by doing the test Pepperz mentioned.

Couldn't I just turn ARS off and then try and access the trunks? I was thinking of doing this before, but I didn't see where I could turn it off.

Ok, here is an update. I pulled a few of the PRI lines out of pool 890 and then assigned line 8141 to a specific button on x301. I was able to access it and dial out with no problem. So I guess it has to be something with the pools. I also was in maintenance and noticed that the lines left in the pool showed maintenance busy yes but the ones I had pulled out of the pool showed no. Does this mean something?

give your phone permission to dial code of pool underEXTENSION, DIAL OUTCD then try pool code. See if it works that way, that may be a temporary fix. I believe there is another step missing in the PRI programing.
