Hello Everyone

I have configured Legato storage manager with oracle for RMAN(Unix platform) backup works perfectly on media(c00101.001), but if i want restore the date from the same media(c00101.001) after a week I am having the following problem

when i mount the media(c00101.001) it will say mounting is in progress, after some time it start saying "looks like tapeexercise" but it will not mount.

If i perform backup and restore same day it work great

Also barcode option does not showing. when i do inventory on the autoloader i can see the barcode numbers.

how can I solve this ?

thanks in advance

What I did was cleaned up the tape drive when I got this message last time, check also the realibility of the media which you are trying to restore.

I did cleaned the tape drive and used new tape

Thanks

What o/s platform?

What type of tape drives?

Are you able to recover anything for any backup? for example, any regular files?

O/S is AIX 5.1

tape drives: IBM 3581 Autoloader (LTO)
( in legato I have selected DLT7000)

I could take backup and restore in the same day, but the same media if i mount after two days it does not mount. when I select mount in nwadmin GUI utility it says mounting is in progress afterthat it start displaying "looks like tapeexercise"

thanks

If you can backup and recover on the same day, then there should be no reason why you cannot restore 2 days later; unless perhaps if you were using a different tape drive on the day you backed up and two days later.

Either way, I suspect that there is a problem with tape drive configuration. I would review how the jukebox and tape drives are configured on the AIX system. (I remember a command called: diag -a?)

Why d=would you configure your LTO drives as DLT7000's in NetWorker?

Hi Wallace88,

I did used correct device driver for IBM 3581

I don't see LTO drive option in MEDIA TYPE ( I am suspect this only, but any other idea)

Thanks
