I have NW Server 7.4 installed on Win2k3 which has a tape library attached to it, now what?? Documentation is vague; I'm used to "go here", "click there" type of learning - and since I'm just learning this stuff, how do I backup a client from the Networker Administration program? I went into Networker Administration and clicked on Schedules, but how do I kick-off one of those schedules and WHAT is it backing up? (theres no way to tell it what or is every first backup a full backup??) And how do I see what's on a tape??

That needs a long explanation. Did you already have a look at the cookbook, which i mentioned earlier, at all?

I wanted a quick paragraph to help me but....Ahhhhh, the cookbook.... yes, spent AAAALLLLLL day yesterday reading it (page by page mind you)...some things made alot of sense and some not - may take a little while but I'll get it.

In short:

Create a group
Assign the group to a schedule
Create a tape pool for that group to write to
Create tapes
Set the retention
Create your client(s)
Run your group

But you really should read the admin guide for each step

Thanks Dugs! Thats exactly what I wanted, the skinny...and since 605 gave me some good direction - I'm armed and ready for battle (WAR will come later...lol)...

P.S.

Create client and ADD to your group!!!

Then start the group.
