I'm looking to upgrade to 7.1.2 from 7.1.1. Does anyone know if there are any issues with 7.1.2?

cheers

I installed 7.1.2 from 7.1.1... no problems..

new device added: SDLT600

The only thing was that tapes didn't recycle at firsts, so I had to issue "nsrim -X" and problem fixed.

Cheers.

One of the issues with 7.1.2 involves the use of savegroup parallelism. Normally this is set to zero by default.

If the savegroup parallelism is not zero, then for this group, the value is the maximum number of simultaneous savestreams for the group that the server will process.

Of course, the savegroup parallelism cannot be greater than the value of the server parallelism, which defines the maximum number simultaneous savestreams for the whole NetWorker server.

Unfortunately, the bug is that: if it encounters a savegroup parallelism that is non zero, then it effectively changes the server parallelism to that value, i.e. it makes the server believe that the server parallelism is what ever the savegroup parallelism is set as.

Obviously this will impact backup performance.

The good news is that there is a fix for this.

I heard of another bug that is related to the use of Advanced file type devices. I don't know the details about this one.

After upgrade to version 7.1.2, some clients (running Windows2000) failed backups with error "Access is denied". You will need a patch for this - file "liblocal.dll".

I have upgraded to this version, and i thougth i was dreaming with ADV File type device, see my recent posting in this coulmn, i have hard time using Device on a remote computer which is win3k and adv file type device, i dont know the real cause yet, where can i download the patch from
for liblocal.dll ?

you need to call Legato for any patch request.

At the very least, call them to confirm what the problem that you are experiencing.

Wallace88..

Yikes.

Do you know if the parallelism bug exists in 7.1.1 ?? This
sounds like a pretty serious bug...if I schedule one group
with a savegrp parallelism of 1, when that groups runs the
whole server will be reduced to 1 session? Do you have an
LGTpa number for it that I can ask about?

The bug is LGTpa66736... and I believe it only happened on 7.1.2.

A patch for this is available.

I encounter following problems in 7.1.2 :

README for LGTpa67290
=====================

This binary provides a fix for the problem where nsrim skips
execution after savegrp runs. The problem only happens on
Windows.

The customers running 7.1.2 on Windows should use this fix.

The binary in the zip file is liblocal.dll.

All the Networker services should be stopped before
replacing liblocal.dll

Both are fixed after applying patch LGTpa67290

milanvo: are you sure the "Access is denied" failure is due to LGTpa67290?

From the readme you supplied, 67290 looks to be about nsrim not running.
