Hello, where can I find what a Operator Panel 581 code means when booting (a 43P 140).
I have AIX 5.1 no fixes.

I hope it works...
Unix was made by and for smart people.

TCP/IP is being configured when 581 is on the operator panel.

This error reflects a network setting problem. Mostly after adding a new network board.

The Machine will boot after about 20-30 minutes

Workaround:
Delete the file /etc/resolv.conf
Reboot the system

"Long live king Moshiach !"

This machine had running AIX 5.1 for months, was moved (to another city), and is a machine used for IBM ITTS Training Courses (Q1313, Q1314, Q1316).

It stopped booting when returning to permanent location. I reinstalled it (using the preservation method once, a new and complete overwrite once again). This is the first boot after installation... don't know what to do.

Machine has a integrated [tt]ent0[/tt] only. Has integrated [tt]scsi0[/tt] only. It has three IBM disks and one CD and one MO removable disk unit.

I hope it works...

hi Elgis
your machine is "looking for" DNS server, and in new
location, it does not find it .
After 20 minutes, machine finishes boot, then remove
DNS domain name and server using 2 steps in

smitty tcpip
further..
name resolution

- remove name
- remove server

bye

Similar to victorv

to remove the DNS setting from that machine
Just move /etc/resolv.conf to /etc/resolv.conf.o
