Leave a message on General mailbox when pressed “0” from someone EXT

After receiving a client complaint, I tested the phones by calling one of the ext 235 who is out of the office. I reached the ext 235 voice mail, and I did not want to leave a message and wanted to talk to reception so I press "zero" no one answered at the reception desk and and reached a recording that said "The operator is not available." The recording then went straight back to the ext 235 voicemail.

How can I have them leave a message on the general voicemail box?

What kind of switch and voice mail is this? Sounds like you are talking about a Norstar not a PBX

First of all you have the change ATND. Available to yes. Then you need to assign the General Delivery Mailbox to her phone and initialize the mailbox.

On capabilities
Call forward

Forward no answer to 439 which is the mailbox
Forward no answer delay 6
Forwad on busy to 439

Did I miss something here...

Is 439 your voice mail extension # ? If so then yes, that is correct. That will get the call to VM then the "0" out of the mailbox would be set to the operator.

thanks for your help, Yes 439 is my vm ext, and I have also set up operator f982 atdt avail to yes, what is that I am missing?
