Hi Guys,

I need to find best practices or how to guides on how to set up rack cabinets and install patch pannels etc including how to wire them up. I've been asked to look into this instead of bringing in outside contractors to do this for us. I'm only going to be doing this for small simple networks (nothing complicated) and i can already make my own patch leads so i'm hoping that the rest will be just as easy. Anyone got some good links?

Thanks
Paul

You might want to check with the authority having jurisdiction for your area to find out what the requirements are in Canada. There are some other governmental bodies that have adopted the NEC or modeled requirements from that document all over the world.

There is an excellent trade publication called EC&M Magazine ( that covers the NEC and related subject matter in data and communications from time-to-time, along with articles on power quality, etc.

Check it out...

Thanks guys. Being UK based i don't know what implications that will have but i'll check it out. I'm only doing basic installations for about 24 data points so i think most of the info will not apply.

Thanks again.
