Hi,

For the second time one of the power supplies in my LDK-100 system has failed, albeit with a few years between failures. The engineer that came to replace the PSU this morning showed me that R49 was burnt out.

I have the PSU left over from the previous failure and want to repair it to carry as a service spare. I believe that R49 is a 200 Ohm, 1/2W carbon film resistor, but would like to confirm that before replacing it.

I am also wondering if I should be replacing it with a higher wattage resistor so that is is less likely to overheat in the future, but would like advice as to whether that is a wise thing to do as it might be a 'design feature'!

Thanks for your help in advance.
Simon

Hi Squilly

Yes it would need to be the same, I have seen evidence of a power supply that was upgraded to a 2W Resistor on R49 and R50 it started a fire when the power supply over heated.

It invalidated their insurance, I am assuming that the cab is pretty much stacked out with cards?
If you need to repair the power supply then just replace on a like for like basis.
