hi i want to set up ldap server on my redhat linux 8 box . i want to know what are the requirements for setting up ldap server ..i mean do i need to setup DNS etc etc..or it will work fine without this ...

Yes you can.

You don't need DNS, DHCP or any other services.

There are lots of LDAP help online for RedHat. I installed it on Mandrake 9, Redhat7 & 8.
There are some dependencies based on the LDAP package that you choose to install.
As always...read the README!
