HI ALL,

I am having a problem with a recent upgraded system from OPT61C R23 to R4.5w CPPIV, the CPU are ok, they can see each other, HEALTH status is 24 on both.
First it was CORE 0 was active and I couln't swap cpu, it starts all the process but in always initialixe and goes back to the core 0.
Now, after a power down, core 1 is active, system is in TRUE REDUNDANT as you can see:

********************************************************

cp 0 16 PASS -- ENBL

and by the NTP, it sais the i should use the command CUTOVR to switch from active core to standby core, i don't no if instead of SCPU command.
but when i use the command, the system responses

.cutovr
CCED0041 Command is not applicable to the redundant CPU system.

and then switch to the original core

Any idea? thanks

with 0 active test cpu.. that will test the standby side..because it's a 61, could be the standby cni as well.. i would reload side 1, including a reseat of the card.. put core 0 in mail, faceplate disable cni 1, put the install disk in, press the ini button and hold it, put core 1 in maint, that;s a normal split mode.. reseat and reload 1.. is the cni on 1 the same rls and vintage as the cni in 0?

CUTOVR only works if you are in SPLIT mode.

What deplist is aplied to the system?

Thanks for your help

SL1user, that was the only case i did't try the command, by the the Upgrade NTP it did look like this command replace the SCPU. Thanks.
About the Deplist, it's the first issue , 00. Do you think is something related to that?
I download the last one core02 , and I will install it.

Hi J.P, yes, nice debugging sequence, I tried during all the tests I did, that's why core 1 is active now, i wanted to check if everything was ok, which looks like it is , except for the swap ... but maybe SL1user is right ... it looks like nothing works well without the right medicine.

Thanks

Hi there,

in any case you should update to deplist 02. You must use mdp install, refresh will work if 02 is installed.

I have already two systems installed. All of them have problems with either redundancy or SCPU issues (like you described).

We are still investigating in what causes the problems.
I heard from a guy that maintaines some more CPPIV side that he investigated in the state of the systems he installed and found out that all of them have one of the two problems.

In my opinion it has something to do with the release we are on. Because if you read the side survay for rls. 5 the are talking about improovments for CPPIV robustness and stability.

Basicly I find that selling bugfixes as features is a nice idea!

Thanks for the tip,

It didn't work, the Swap cpu I mean, it initialize and go back to the original Core.
So I tried to split the two core again, and try the CUTOVR command, which it worked like you told.
And know the systemm is on core 0, working prefectly but no swapping for now ... yet, I hope.

By the way, the MDP refresh for 02 didn't work, it aborted because of conflicts with existing patches
Error Checking Conflicts
PCH0160: Refresh routine terminated unsuccessfully.

One more question, does anybody knows a link (Nortel) to download the updated list of plugin's for the Rls4.50w.

Many thanks

one quick thing on 4.5 cpu cppiv that we have noticed is that if the primary and secondary e-net ip's are not in the same ip address range you cannot swap cpu's. This is with callpilot and symposium installed on the elan. It worked fine untill the two were up and running.

Seems to work well for Mr. Gates & his crew also!

Hi cmptsul01,

as I said, going for Deplist 02 you have to use mdp install.
This will deactivate an erase all existing patches on you system and install and put in service the new patches.

After that you should be able to use refresh for all the coming deplists.

Yeap

That's what I did. thanks and sorry I forgot to mention.

There was some tasks stopped but nothing special.

Deplst 02 - core is in service, but no swap.

About the IP address it's set with the default IP, and both LAN are connected, LAN2 with across cable between the two CPU cppiv

I am already missing the Motorola CPU's ...
