OK, up front, I am not a Notes Admin, just network/security. However, I have users with mail files exceeding 800MB that I would like to archive. In the past I have spent many hours harrassing them until they finally give in but you only get it once then they refuse to do it again. Most are lazy bosses who "never have time". I would like to be able to launch a batch file from their PC that would kick off the archive process without their having to physically move their fingers or do any strenuous clicking. Can the archive be launched in such a way?

Oh, yes, I know that there are other methods to prevent this like quotas and such, but my company has a "free-for-all" policy so as not to hurt anybody's feelings and we can't seem to get such things implemented. I am, however, evil and don't mind using a little trickery.

I don't know of a batch way of doing what you're after, but this seems to be far more an issue of politics than anything else. Why not try limiting their disk space on the server (if you use H drives or something). We did this once, told everybody that we had to cut down on disk space because of mail files being too big, and after about a week we had half a terabyte of space freed up on the Domino server!

Yes, you are correct on both responses. This is political. Our Notes Admin would like to set quotas on disk space but our boss says no. She has also come up with some solutions like you just did with that link, however, the boss says no.

I would like to be able to launch the archive process from the command line, without doing any mods to Notes/Domino....for politacl reasons. Maybe Notes won't do this.
