Launch a webpage from a desktop shortcut?

Yes.

Right click anywhere on your desktop, select New and then Shortcut. Click the Browse button and find the IEXPLORER.EXE file - it's usually in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ sub-dir. Highlight it and click OK.

On the next screen in the Type the location of the item: box, add one space after the end the already inserted path and filename, and enter the relevant URL so it looks something like this:-

"C:\Progarm Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
N.B. The underlining is not required for the URL - Tek-Tips screen puts it in automatically!

Click Next and type a relevant name for your new shortcut.

Job done!

1. Navigate the Explorer to the web page (or file menu structure) you would like to make the shortcut for.
2. Go the the extreme left hand top corner of the Explorer window bar.
3. Right click on the tiny icon there at the left top (the one with the "E" in it).
4. Drag this icon out onto the desktop and let go of your right mouse button.
5. Select "Create Shortcut Here"!

(One less step than right clicking)

go to the webpage and left click and drag the icon onto the desktop. Either use the icon from the title bar or from the address box if the address box is displayed at the top of the page.
