Latest Date Formula

I have the following dates and amounts fields.
I want to write a formula to pick the latest
date (most recent). Can some body help me please.

04/09/2009 - $12,000-
06/18/2009 - $9,000-
04/17/2009 - $16,000-
07/15/2009 - $1,000-
05/11/2009 - $8,000-

Go to report->selection formula->GROUP and enter:

{table.date} = maximum({table.date})

If you want the most recent row per some group, then use:

{table.date} = maximum({table.date},{table.groupfield})
