LAT and LDT

Can someone please explain the purpose of these in ISA server? I can't find much information online.

The LAT lets the ISA server know which IP Addresses are local to the LAN so it will not apply packet filters against these computers. Make sure to only have the LAT include those addresses that you want inside the firewall.

LDT I not sure but pretty certain that is local domains and applies the same wat as the LAT but that is a guess.
