I've nearly completed my migration of Exchange 5.5 to a new Exchange 2000 server.

I have followed the MS 'Removing the Last Exchange 5.5 Server' document:

- got to deleting the 5.5 server from Exchange 2000 version of Exchange 5.5 admin program.
Then went to Config_CA in ADC and forced replication.
The next bit is to wait for Exchange 5.5 server to disappear from System Manager before deleting the site replication service - but it hasn't! I did these bits about a week ago, but it's still seeing the old 5.5 server in System Manager (not in 2K version of Exchange Admin).

All the exchange services on 5.5 have been stopped, everything is working fine on the Exchange 2000 server - so why can't i finish this last bit????

cheers.

Did you Use ADSI edit tools to remove old Exchange 5.5 from the Exchange Administrator group? If not, go ahead and do it.

Just to make sure i don't kill anything....

i go into ADSI Edit - then Configuration container>CN=Services>CN=Microsoft Exchange>CN=organisation>CN=Administration groups>CN=Servers.... and then delete the old 5.5 server from there????

why doesn't it have this in any of the other docs i've found?

Check Microsoft Knowledge Base article q272314 for some good info on the removal of the last 5.5 server.

Thanks, but as i said in my first post, i've already gone through this doc!! have come unstuck as it looks like the ADC has not replicated the server deletion to the new exchange server i guess.....
