HP laserjet iiip. Was giving a paper jam error.
Ordered pickup roller and separation pad repair kit.
After I installed these parts, printer pulled paper to the left as it entered the printer.
Sellers' advice was to check the pickup rollers to see if they were the same size. ????
No idea how I might do that. I finally decided to try taking the new rubber pickup roller sleeves off the new rollers and putting them on my old HP plastic rollers. They were hard to work with and I tore one in half in the process.
So I was back to my old rubber sleeves. I took the new plastic rollers and exchanged the position they were in, moved left one to right and right to left. Then I put my old sleeves on the new rollers, replaced the bar and used the new separation pad. The paper skewed left worse, creating a bow of 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch in the paper as it pressed up against the left side of the paper tray.
So I took it apart again and put the old rubber sleeves back on the old HP plastic rollers. I rotated the worn, shiny, smooth portion of the rubber sleeve 1/3 of the way around the roller from where it was before. I reassembled and also used the old separation pad. Now there is a slight skew to the right side - enough to notice if you look at the top margin of the printed test page.
The change in skew side from left with the new parts to right with the old ones seems to me to show the new parts were bad - even though the seller has had no other complaints. I have asked my ebay seller for new parts -rollers at my cost since I tore one and separation pad at his expense. Don't know yet if I will get them.
Are there any adjustments in addition to replacing or moving around the parts that would control the paper skew?
Thanks.
