I have a mission-critical laserjet 8150 that occasionally goes off-line when it goes in to powersave mode. therefore, when it receives a job, the printer does not exit powersave and print.
Since it's an 8150, I would suggest trying to update the firmware on the printer, and Jet Direct. I've been told, by HP that the 8150 with earlier firmwares can be a little "quirky." with such problems as resetting the Jet Direct back to DHCP, losing the Page Counts, and Serial Numbers, etc.. HP's first step is to update the firmware, which is simply a download from HP's Web Site. I would personally start there, as it won't cost you anything. If that doesn't resolve your issues, I would have to agree that it probably will be the formatter board. If you're not an HP Service Provider, you can get that part on HP's Parts Store Web Site. HP part number is C4265-69001. Cost on this part is $469.00 ($268 is Core Charge, which is refunded when HP gets back your defective board.) Which makes the actual cost $201.00
