I have a user in my organization that is creating a word document. It has 30 pages in total. 1 logo/graphic, about 4 tables, a couple of text boxes, and plain, Arial text. For some reason, the document is 56MB in size!!
I tried deleting the logo, deleted the tables and yet it was still huge. The only way I could reduce the size was to convert to RTF word format. What else could be hidden in the document to make it so huge? In the properties, I noticed it was a huge character count.

Something else I could be looking at?

To be honest it sounds like there may be some corruption but do you perhaps have any hidden text or graphics or is track changes on and you have made many changes perhaps to graphics?

Enjoy,
Tony

I am wondering if it might be the bullets she used all through the document.. instead of the little black dot, she used some ornate arrows.. are those enough graphics to cause the "damage"?

Have you tried, Help > Detect and Repair?

56M is a huge file - bullets wouldn't really take that much.

One thing you could try would be to save the document as html and look what is created in the folder with the images - you might get some clue there.

Enjoy,
Tony

Saved as HTML and the only images that it threw into its folder were 1K and 6K...

A character count of 15649 is not large at all. I just pulled up a 50 page document, and the character count is 56341. File size is 738 KB - so less than ONE Mb. Mind you it has no graphics.

Something is definitely screwy with your file.
