How do I downsize the wtmp and syslog files?

Has been answered before - do a search in this forum for wtmp or look at thread52-1169149

HTH,

wtmp - yes, syslog - no. wtmp is downsized. thanks for the help. syslog is still in need of size reduction.

Take a look in /etc/syslog.conf - see what is configured to log into /var/adm/syslog. Perhaps someone configured it some time ago to log all mail debug messages and forgot about it?

If you can't figure it out, paste the tail end of the config file here and let's have a look at it.
