Laptop will not startup

I have a Dell Inspiron 3200 laptop. One day it just shut down so I figured it needed a new battery. I got a new battery for the laptop and the startup lights lit up but then stopped. Since then I am not able to get any lights or anything from it. It is just dead. Is there anything else I can try or is it time to lay it to rest.. Thanks

Will it run from AC power? Could be bad terminal connections to the battery.Or a bad inverter. It might pay to have it fixed

I tried using the AC Adapter and still nothing..

Is the AC power block dead??

Well it would make sense:- both batteries wont work cause you cant charge them, and the AC adapters fulty so you cant run off that either.

Just an idea.

If you have a multitester it's easy to check the adapter to see if it's working properly. If it is then it could still be a bad power connection to the laptop. Is there any corrosion on the terminals where the battery makes the connection?

Some laptops have a reset buton. Try that. Usually requires a paperclip or something similar to access it.

Also, does the computer seem to switch on but with no visual?? Most laptops have a key (usually an "fn" key) that switches the display from the laptop screen to an external monitor.

Could it be that it is trying to find an external monitor? - Try pressing teh relevant key (usually a Function key pressed with an "fn" key - with a picture of a screen or similar)

Consult the manual to see how to this exactly on your specific model.

Tried an external monitor on it yet?
