I have an exchange server standard and I'm trying to configure my laptop to it. I have a roaming profile and when I sign on to the desktop I get my mail. when I sign on to the laptop, although I have internet connection and my profile downloads, my laptop says the exchange server is unavailable everytime. From desktop OK but laptop no.

whats wrong? very very appreciated if you give me a solution.

Ok, How do I solve it? I can ping the mail server.

ping as server name AND FQDN?
What about WINS / lmhosts file? Configured and working? Can you \\servername and \\servername.domainname.com?

OK, I'm able to ping the Domain and the server resolves itself with nslookup. what do I do now to fix it?

Is your laptop configured to use DHCP? You need to make sure it's on the same network and getting DNS resolution from your network DNS server, not an outside DNS server. An external DNS server may not have the resource record you need to communicate with it.

I can \\servername and \\servername.domainname.com

the laptop is on the same network and DNS is working fine.

I need something mann.............

I think, that it might be an authentication issue. (I think). The laptop is connected to our domain with all the proper rights. I run Outlook and it pops up with User name, password and domain. I enter all three and it would not accept it. I changed the password on the server and although the user can logon to the network the problem is that exchange isn't letting the user access the mail account. the same thing all the time username, password and Domain.
The problem is with the laptops and not the desktops but they are configured the same way.

any other answers?

Like I said, I need something mann!!!!...........
