Hi
Can anybody please help with a problem I have been unable to solve. Laptop Texas Extensa 650cd running win98se, unable to get any sound from a music cd, the player starts and runs but no sound comes out. The win98 cd auto starts and the noise comes out the speakers. Have tried the drivers ESS reloaded and all ok, think the machine is ACER tried their drivers but most rellate to win95 including flash BIOS.
Have given up trying to remove PHDISK as new hard drive fitted and still can not get rid of it.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Many Thanks
Barry

first things first...go to....
start\control panel\systems\device manager\cd-rom devices\cdrom and properties in the pop-up and make sure digital audio is ticked for this device. If this box is unchecked the cd will play but the cdrom wont playback the audio.
Come back to us if this isnt the problem!
hope this Helps
David
