I am in the market for purchasing a notebook computer. My top choice as of now is a Dell Inspiron 8600. I would appreciate any comments from any owners of a Dell Inspiron 8600.

I would gladly appreciate any input of any other vendors notebook that would be a great purchase. As of now my limit for spending is $2000.

Thanks in advance. Your information is greatly appreciated.

I bought my Wife a system from ACT (one of their desknotes). This was before Dell started getting competitive on the Inspirons (have you looked at the 5100 ?)

ACT have a really sweet system, called an Omega:

The systems have a ton of cool features, including 4 USB 2.0s and a Firewire connection, not to mention TV out.

Very good spec for the money and well built too.

Hope this helps.

I own a slightly older model, the Dell Inspiron 4000, and in all the time I have had it I have never experienced any issues with it at all. I would certainly recommend the Dell Inspiron range.
