I have a Sony Vaio laptop that came with 4GB of memory, I bought 2 new sticks to increase it to 8GB. I have restarted many times and it still sees only 4GB. I tried to go into the CMOS but I could not highlight the memory installed to change it.
What am I doing wrong?

You would need to check the specs for the model of laptop you have to see how much RAM it supports. If it supports 8GB and its not seeing the last 4 that would suggest RAM not seated properly or a bad stick of RAM

I opened the Laptop and re-inserted the memory chips and now it recognizes the update.
Thanks again, I thought there was more to it than that.
