Hello i just bought a dell inspiron 9300 laptop and i already need to upgrade it, a surprise i know, haha. Anyways it has a 128mb Ati mobility x300 graphics card which is the bottom of ATI's line of notebook graphics card. I want to upgrade the video card, im pretty sure it might be more involving then upgrading the RAM. My question is is there a manual online or some online resource you could direct me to with instruction on how to change out the video card in a notebook. I also need to know a place when i can purchase graphic cards for notebooks because im having trouble finding a retailer. thanks in advance for your help.

I got mine for a Toshiba and many other models from ebay, but make sure you get one that goes with your model number and is a Field Replacement Unit Service Manual and not a user manual. It had pictures in it and steps of how to remove the keyboard and everything. I had to take mine all the way apart to change out the CDRW.

I'm not sure about your video card for a notebook.

benwah333,
It is integrated. What makes you think you need an upgrade?

well im playing like half life 2 and graphic heavy games and i cant turn on anti aliasing or have any of the settings on high, without the fps dropping below 20. i'd like to have at least 30 fps with the settings on high and some AA

Is the graphics "card" replaceble? Most laptops, you have to change the mainboard, as the chip is built in.

i called dell and the card is removable i just have to dismantle the laptop. remove the hinge cover, keyboard, palm rest, and the graphic card cooling thing. the graphic card i want is 320 bucks from dell but i cant find it any where else. nvidia geforce go 6800
