Hi,

I've written to the hardware forum but a few of you in this forum seem to know so much about computers! A friend of mine wants to buy a laptop and has been looking at the Dell Inspiron 8200. Does anyone have any advise or warnings about laptops?? Any help would be appreciated.

A laptop is more expensive than a desktop unit with the same CPU, a laptop is normally not as fast as a desktop unit with the same CPU because other hardware in the laptop is normally not as fast(HD, MB, etc.), a laptop is not as upgradeable as a desktop, a laptop is more difficult to repair or to have hardware items replaced, a laptop is very fragile, and a laptop can be easily stolen.

I've never used anything but a laptop and have had no problems doing what ever I want - PhotoShop on down (or up as the case may be). The new ones are fast and surely have enough memory.
