Upon every startup of Windows 2000, the lanman (Server) service hangs (10-15 min) on startup, and takes a really long time to start up. The "Computer Browser" service is dependant on this service too, so this does not start either.

This error is in the Event Viewer:
"The Server service hung on starting"
and
"The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error:
After starting, the service hung in a start-pending state."

I tried adjusting the register as per This did not resolve it.

In looking at the registry, I already have a "DependOnService" entry for the Spooler. It is "RPCSS" (Remote Procedure Call (RPC)). Should I remove this entry, or keep it there and add another entry for LanMan Server? If I do this, what is the syntax?

I renamed my current "DependOnService" entry to _OLD, and created a new one based on the website information. It seemed to work nicely! Upon startup, the earlier symptoms I was experiencing are now gone.

Thanks for your help.
