Organise, recognise, realise and similar terms annoy the heck out of me. I've changed my regional setting so the language is "English - Australia" and used the office language tool so that Australian English is the only language enabled. But office still insists on checking spelling in US english. Does anyone know how to change this so it will always be in English AU?

Steps for installing another dictionary...

1) From the Word menu, choose Tools - Options.

2) Then click the "Spelling & Grammar" tab.

3) Click Dictionaries, then opposite "Languages", select English (Australian).

4) Then click "Add". At this point, you'll need to "browse" and locate the folder where the dictionaries are located. I'm sorry I can't be specific here, but I expect it will require the use of your installation CD.

Another (less desirable) option is to...

1) type a list of the main words that cause a conflict - like the list you supplied.

2) right-click on each word, and choose "Add".

This will add these words to your dictionary, and they therefore won't show up as misspelled words in the future.

Hope this helps. :)

Try This

1) From Word menu, choose Tools - Language - Set Language

2) Choose Mark selected text as - highlight English AU

3) Click on "Default" - you should get a prompt:
Do you want to change the default language to English AU?
This change will affect all new documents based on the NORMAL template.

4) Click Yes

Worked for me to get to use English UK.

jbuchanangb,

Some things are "so obvious" - once they're "pointed out".

THANKS for your contribution - it appears it's the "obvious" method. :) ====> STAR.
