Now I'm in trouble: we have created an application using
Forms 6i (and Reports 6i). One of our clients has Finnish
Win2000.

So far we have managed to translate menus, alerts
and even alert buttons into Finnish (using USER_NLS_LANG
etc.). BUT: client can open an editor in a text-field. I
think that the editor comes from Forms (it's not Notepad or
Wordpad). Editor has three buttons: Search, Ok and Cancel.
These buttons are still in English, no matter what we try.
If we use Search-button, everything in that window is in
English. I don't mind using English version, but our client
wants to have Finnish application.

I just can't figure out what to do anymore. Please help me!
Unfortunately this problem has to be solved very quickly.

Thanks in advance,

Virpi

You may change system editor by defining FORMS60_EDITOR environment variable (e.g. use Notepad)

Hi Dima!

Thanks for your quick answer!

I just asked that possibility (using FORMS60_EDITOR and Notepad) and unfortunately using other editors than what is in Forms, is so far out of question (nice...). So the only way to solve this problem is to find out how to get button texts into Finnish.

Any other suggestions?

Regards,

Virpi

The strange thing is that my editor has RUSSIAN buttons. Did you try to change NLS_LANG?

Regards, Dima

Hi Dima!

Yes, we changed NLS_LANG into FINNISH_FINLAND and the editor is still in English...

Thanks for trying to help me!

Virpi

Do you have %ORACLE_HOME%\FORMS60\fmcfi.msb file? AFAIK Forms supports Finnish thus should provide that file. How about other labels in Forms Developer, are the also in English? I don't remember exactly whether Installer asks about languages to install, but you may try to reinstall Forms or at least add this file (look for it on CD or try to request it from support).

Hello again, Dima!

We have fmcsf.msb file in the folder you mentioned. I couldn't find fmcfi.msb file.

Everything else was in Finnish, except that editor. Do I have to have a Finnish Form Builder if I want to create .fmx who "speaks" only Finnish? (Now I know I ask a stupid question, but this is the first time I have to even think any other languages than English. Sorry!). Hope not, otherwise I'll have more problems.

I read somewhere (metalink, perhaps) about using DEVELOPER_NLS_LANG, but I didn't get the idea.

Regards,

Virpi

Exact name of that file was just an assumption. In general the name is built from fmc prefix and 2-letter country code (us, ru). Maybe sf stands for SuomiFinish. I know only one "version" of forms, though it uses different .msb files for different languages. You may try some kind of hacking and edit this file manually (don't forget to backup it and edit in replace mode to preserve offsets).
