LAN/WAN Question

I have a customer who has the LAN port connected to their network, and the WAN port connected to a private test network. They have IP phones on both sides. When a set on the LAN calls a set on the WAN, the call connects but there is no talk path. Am I missing a route, or is it not possible for traffic to route between the two ports?

It sounds like routing so add an IProute to the lan2 port.

Is suspect the phone on lan 1 are using the customers default gateway which does not know who to route to lan 2 (using the IPO as a gateway)
this will cause no speech
the quick fix is to turn of direct media path
the long fix is to add the necessary routing.

Yes, my route on LAN1 is using the default gateway. In the gateway would I add a route to LAN1 or LAN2?

When I think about routing or VLANs for more than a minute, my brain turns to complete mush.

Although it is not that hard but you have to get used to it and pay attention to it.
It is nothing more then logic and think logic.

No, the phones themselves, their gateway needs to be the IPO, or sort the gateway out so it can route between the two networks
