Hi

I need a bit of advice. I have a problem with my LAN sender. I have two sites. Both sites have their own sql databases. One site is a primary of the other site. I think the error is permission related regarding the SMS_SITE share. Can somebody advise what the permissions should be for this share ?

My error code is as below. Cheers Craig

The sender cannot connect to remote site "FAL (Secondary Site) " over the LAN. The operating system reported error 5: Access is denied.

Possible cause: Remote site server "Secondary Site" might not be connected to the LAN.
Solution: Verify that site server "Secondary Site" is connected to the LAN and functioning properly.

Possible cause: Share "SMS_SITE" might not be accessible.
Solution: Verify that share "SMS_SITE" is visible and that the site server machine account has the necessary permissions to access the share.

Possible cause: Network load might be too high.
Solution: Verify that the network is not saturated. Verify that you can move large amounts of data across the network.

I'm a wee bit confused in that you said it both have a SQL database and the error says it can't connect to the secondary (secondaries dont have a database)

But to answer your question the share SMS_SITE the only thing in there is the administators group from the local machine.

Sorry that was me.. where it says "secondary site" that was where my fqdn of my server was serverblah.blah.com etc I changed it so as not to advertise my domain etc.

Both entries for "secondary site" are the same as well

Cheers for replying :)

How does the security on this share work as for does one machine have admin rights on the others share etc ?

Craig

ok, well the sender needs to connect to the sms_"sitecode" share on the destination server the security settings on that should be the domain/SMSserver_"sitecode" and the local admins account.

If you having problems check the sender.log and the sched.log In the sender log make sure there are retries qued up but to many backed up....

on my other (child) server security for the sms_"sitecode" it has the sms service account and the local machine administrators account
