I hope somebody can give me some advice/pointers. First of all I'm totally new to ISDN.

Anyways my problem is that I'm after installing a brand new DLink DI-304 ISDN router and it's working fine with the ISDN line, at least I think it is. I ran all the disagnostics and they all came back showing B1 active. I telnetted to the router and viewed the log and it also showed a call being placed.

I then configured the DHCP server on the DI-304 and it works fine.

Finally the pc. The pc has picked up the DHCP allocated ip address so I thought that at this stage everything should be ok to connect to the internet via the router from the pc, there is a switch in between the router and pc.

Unfortunately nothing. I can ping the router from the pc but internet traffic (http etc) from the pc isn't activating the ISDN or getting on to the 'net.

The firewall feature doesn't appear to be at fault. As for NATs I'm not familiar with that either but I thought the router would take care of that.

I'm a newbie to this ISDN stuff, never had this problem with my trusty ADSL!

If it's of any use I'm using eircom's ISDN service in Ireland.

First thing to check is that you have a gateway and DNS (Domain Name Server) configured properly on the PC - If you set these on the DHCP server then they should appear on the PC's IP configuration. They should be set to the IP of the router.

From the command line run ipconfig /all (I am assuming you are using XP or 2000) This should tell you what addresses your card has for DNS and Gateway. The problem with running PING is that if the device (the ISDN router) is on the same network as the PC then it will be successful without gateway or DNS.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for that. Got it in the end. Set all the pc's up to use the built in DHCP server and hey presto!
