Does anyone have any advice or had trouble loading a LAN CTE client on a desktop running SP2? Whenever I try, it indicates I have no TAPI line. Older desktops running XP work fine.

Any advice is appreciated!

I have had a case open with Nortel regarding the same issue. The Nortel engineers confirm that there is a known issue created by SP2. Their recommendation at this time is to NOT install SP2 if LAN CTE is required.

I have a customer with issues with Lan CTE and SP2 is there any solution?

I know this is not much help. However, I believe there is a special patch for this problem from Nortel.

Is this patch now available? For what software levels? Does anyone have a copy of the patch?

STOCKMAN, do you have a copy of this patch at this point? Can I get it from you or can you put it up somewhere for download?

I have have worked through this problem with XP machines running SP2. Nortel suggested that I make the following registry change.
Open Windows registry editor. Go to Hkey_local machine / software / policies / Microsoft / Windows NT. You will need to look for a sub folder entitled RPC. In RPC there should be a folder called RpcClient.. There should be a d word value of 0 in the right hand section of the registry editor screen. If there is not one present, you will need to create that entry.

SP2 apparently will change this registry setting and it will have to be added for the Lan/CTE to function correctly. I did the change while fighting with setting up Personal Call Manager and it worked for me as soon as I did the registry hack. For as simple as Lan/CTE and Personal Call Manager is, it can be a real pain sometimes to get it to work initially. Let me know how it goes for ya.

I am really puzzled by this problem I'm having with XP Professional SP2. I have taken a 3.6 BCM to two different locations with XP SP2 and it works fine. It is only not working at one location. This file and/or hack is not evident, reflected or required at either of these sites, yet when added at the problem site, it does not seem to make any difference? Any ideas or anyone else come across or overcome this problem? Sooperbohl, you said it can be a real pain to get it to work initially, why?

I have heard that the problem only exists on sites that have been upgraded from a previos service pack. I have not had the problem on systems with the service pack 2 installed from disc or already at service pack 2.
