Netmeeting also has chat capabilities. For our company we just decided to implement using AIM. It has given us zero problems integrating it into our core of applications. It is very easy to use, setup and has required no maintenance.
If you are behind a firewall you will need a proxy or socks server though to use it. With Netmeeting you would not need these servers. joegz

I personally use Lan Chat Pro ( for my home network. It has away message options, minimize to tray, multiple language support and more. I use version 2.2, the link gives you 2.6. I haven't used that version so I can't say too much about it. Hope this helps.

Im not too sure about 2000 but its something similar. The only downfall I found was that the chat services have to be started by all users for some one to receive a call....this can be done in the start up of each user though.... Jay~
