My problem is that Auto media managment does not work properly especially, since our browse and retention policies are longer then when we actually recycle tapes.
Daily offsite for 1 Month
MonthEnd for 1 year.
BP=6 Months
Ret Pol=1 Year
I would like to automatically lebel the tapes that are replaced everyday to Pool name Appservers
When i do mminfo the tapes that get placed in Libibary have no lable i.e -* will show with mmlocate ( mminfo) or when you inventory the tape slots for the tapes i like to lable.
What scirpt should i design so that any tapes that are placed in lib with above sigh gets labled to pool named Appserver.
i.e
mminfo -a -JIBMLTO ( name of jukebox)
nsrjb -L -bAppserver -T -* ( just an example)

since our browse and retention policies are longer than when we actually recycle tapes.

Then adjust the browse and retention policy, it's better than make a script in order to label tapes.

No because i would like to restore those monthend tapes without having to do scanner -i, also the problem of automating lables will still exists using cmd line wheather or not what the browe policy is.
If i turn on Auto media managment, sometimes it causised lots of tapes to appear as being used with previous backup in a senario where there is a problem with tapes or device, in such a case unnessasarily high number of tapes get sent offsite, i would like to avoid this.
