I am about to embark on getting the MCSE on the 2003 track. What hardware would you guys who have been successful in the past recommend to get for testing?

I have got access to any software i will need and plenty of old machines.

Thanks for help in advance.

Stephen

2-4 machines:

2 setup as domain controlers
2 setup as W2K pro

Make sure one of the two server machines has two network cards so you can mess around with routing.

Dis... dis is my advice.

Don't drink and post, save that for driving home!

Thanks for the advice.

Just need to get them all home now...

To save lugging all the stuff home, geta good machine with 1GB+ of RAM and load up VMware. They have a 30 day trial on the site.

The other half is now hppy the second bed room doesn't look like a computer junk yard and I can now build test networks on my laptop!

I have got Virtual PC 2004 and i had thought about using that.

I have used VMWare in the past and i was impressed.

I still need to get my head round not being able to see and touch the box....

if you config them correctly these vm are just as good or better than the new one, why spend more money, space and electrcity

"why" depends on how much one's job depends on the physical aspects versus remotely managing the OS...
