Hello,
I'm doing some labtest for learning cisco using the boson netsim software and following instructions from Wendell Odom's ICND cert guide 6th edition p 310-315.

I'm trying to make a simple point to point serial connection between two 1005 routers named master (has de dce side of the serial cable) and slave. But i have serveral issues.

1 - i can't find no "compress [predictor|stac|mppc[ignorepfc]]" command ??
2 - if i bring up serial 0 i, it goes back down almost immediately after the config below.
3 - There is a "dialing router" and a "router-to-be-dialed"
how do i configure that distinction?
4 - Result no traffic from Master to Slave or the other way around, i have the feeling i'm missing a lot here :-( can someone help me out?

on router master i did:
ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
encapsulation ppp
ppp authentication chap
username test password test

on router slave i did:
ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
encapsulation ppp
ppp authentication chap
username test password test

You need a clock source for this.

try adding to the master (DCE side)
clock rate = 56000

disclamer.. I have been known to be wrong

Excellent that does the trick, silly me

Thanks for the quick answer,
