Can anyone please give me some advice with regards to my purchase of an L8 Autoloader? I am backing up 7 sun servers for mostly incremental backups. Do I need a media server (V210) and if so can unix's ufsdump and cron suffice or should I purchase Veritas NetBackup?

Thank you!

Also any ideas on how to install the L8 without a media server if possible?

I am running Veritas NetBackup with my L8 Tape Drive. If you don't use a software package that can handle an autoloader, you will have to manually load and unload your tapes using the L8 front panel controls. It would be easier for you to use a 4mm tape and change tapes everyday for your incremental and full backups.

You can also use SunStorEdge Enterprise Backup Software 7.0. I think you can download it from Sun.
