Having a problem with labeling new tapes. When labeling completes, the tape does not eject from the drive. The tape has to be manually ejected. Once tapes are labeled everything else seems to work fine. All diags run on the library and drives.

System is configured as follows:
STK L180 code ver.2.36.00
2x SDLT 320 drives code ver.46
adaptec 2944UW controller driver AIC78xx.sys
System is windows 2000 version 5 SP4
Not sure what networker version (but should be latest)

Anyone heard of problems like this with SDLT drives?
Any help or ideas would be great!

For one thing the code on your library and drives is way down level. How are you labeling the tapes? SDLT drives are different from other drives in that a SCSI command of rewind/unload will not eject the tape from the drive. The robot knows this is a SDLT drive and so it has an extra step written into its code to press the unload button on the front of the drive for them. This is how it gets the tape to eject so it can put it back. So either your labeling procedure is somewhat manual and does not do this or your code levels are too down level to include the extra step needed to eject a tape from the SDLT drive.
