kxtd 1232 1 vs. kxtd1232 5

First, does anyone know of any certified qualified repair in San Diego for the Panasonic KXTD1232? I know I can sent it to Guam, Puerto Rico, or Georgia.

Anyone know any significant differences between a version 1 and a version 5?
I have a customer that started with a problem that seemed like ring trip's but now has evolved into locking up the entire system, which now has mushroomed out to no station to station calling on the first 6 stations.
They have the version 5 and if they have to send it in to be repaired at an authorized repair facility, I need to give them some suggestion of replacement. I have a KXTD1232 1 that is used and collecting dust, I just needed to know what bells and whistles they will have to go without.

Version 1 has a shameful, unreliable voicemail integration. Also, I have had trouble using the laptop to program that version. Also missing are: Night button (instead program 2 buttons with 781/780), phantoms dont work, no T-1 ability. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. There is the option of upgrading the software. Try taking the software chips out of the -5 and putting them into the -1.
Don't forget to initialize.

I do not think a -1 can be upgraded to a 5/6 without a cpu
change!!!

The upgrade info is correct in that you can not upgrade by swapping the chips as the processor is different. However the missing or not available features is good info, they dont have a voicemail or a T1 so I think the only drawback is some of the phones they use--but still all in all --it is good news. Thanks
