I am trying to remotely connect with a TDA30. I select modem from the drop down menu then enter in the phone number field, and when I press OK i get back a response "e000001" system error. Is this my pc or the software.

My apologies for not being more detailed. When I click ok to connect the internal modem of my laptop doesn't even go off hook to dial out. It will work for my Avaya dialup, but not with the panasonic maintenance console. The sites Iam connecting to are analog lines.

Have you selected the correct Comm port for the modem

is the initiate string OK for your modem

sounds like problem is in your PC

you must use an external modem have never got
a internal to work....

cwc3 do you mean an internal on the PC or the TDA
I have never had trouble with either and have about 15 sites that i deal with remotely.

i just use a us robotics black v92 external on the
pc have never got the internal on my toughbook to work....
have no ploblems with the modem that is built for the tda

I've got a Compaq laptop and the internal modem works fine for dialling into TDA's.

I just use the init string "AT&DT" - works every time.

The Maintenance console software does work on another laptop with internal modem. So it is my laptop, how do I know if the init string is correct for the internal modem I am using.

In control panel, (through windows) go ot phone and modem options. Look around in there, some where there you can find an option to test your modem. See what windows chooses as a string for your modem and try that.

I think it tries a whole lot of strings and they'll have a pass/fail column that'll tell you which ones may work

I tried the AT&DT and it worked great. That will do for now. Thanks
