Hello everyone. I am working with a KX-TA 824 Hybrid System and am using the KX-TA Maintenance Console to program it. There are 3 CO's, and currently, if no lines are being used, they pick up in the order of 3, 2, 1. I need to change that so it picks up in order 1, 2, 3. I can't seem to find the place in the maintenance console where I can do that. Anyone know where that setting is or know another solution? Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the reply. I have the console installed already and I am having a hard time navigating to the place within it where I can change the settings mentioned above. Do you know where I would find that? Thanks for the prompt reply!

We use KX-TE/M S824 here but believe it's much the same.

It's under program No. 2.3.

Or go to Extension > PT Personal Settings > Then under Line Preference(Out going), using the drop down arrow select CO1

If CO1 is busy/in use, it goes to CO2 then C03 and so on.

Let me know you results.

Order of lines that it picks up can't be changed. It goes from 3-1
If you want it to pick up a certain number first for outgoing swap in on lines in

I have managed to change it a number of times though.OBT seem to be telling you to pull out line plug3 and put it in 1 and line plug 3 put it in 1. 2 retains its position. Experience is the best teacher!.

It used to work changing the trunk group order line 1 is group 1 and line 2 is group 2, you can try to change trunk groups, but on the tes system it did not make a difference the last time I tried it.
try it in co. trunk groups.

if you use line Preference, it will pick up line 3 when you pick up the handset or press sp-phone button

Hey everyone! Thanks for all of your replies! I really appreciate it. So it is looking like there might be a way to change it in software as otoni54 mentioned... I would like to go that route if I can. I am a computer technician trying to get into the phone world and don't want to create any havoc for my customers if I can avoid it. The root of the problem is that the fax is on line 3 and if a customer returns a call on the number that called them (line 3 since it was picked up first), then they get the fax machine tones from time to time. Maybe I am going about it the wrong way. What are your thoughts? Thanks again!

I imagine you would like to prioritize the other lines (excluding FAX line)for calling out so that the FAX line is ceased last in Outgoing Line Preference list.

In this case, when you call out the customer calls back on the non-FAX line used to call them.If this is your scenario, unless you don't have many outgoing calls it will happen when the other two are busy and somebody attempts to make an outgoing call the third line (FAX Line) will be ceased and the corresponding customer will call back on that line.

JUST TO ASK.
Would you like to continue making outgoing calls with the FAX Line?
Is the FAX connected to an extension?
Did you list your FAX number as telephone number?

If this does not represent your intention, make it clearer.

Couldn't you just remove line 3 from Trunk Group 1 and place it in Trunk Group 2 then it would start on line 2 and only go to line 3 if 1 and 2 were busy.

Sorry been a while since I've played with a 824 but you can do this on a TD/TDA/TDE

Cool. It feels like we are getting close to a solution for this!

otoni54: Here are my answers to you...
1. Yes, the fax line needs to be available to make outgoing calls since people are on calls 3 at a time on certain occasions.
2. I may be too much of a newb to answer this correctly, but the fax line is line 3 and is used as a phone as well.
3. The Fax number is listed as the fax number. Customers get it from the calls they receive from the office... which is the whole problem.

dalavar01: It sounds like you may have an easy fix. Do you know where in the Maintenance Console I would go to change the trunk groups? I am still getting the hang of this software. Thanks!!

3. CO
3. Detail
CO Line Group

Change CO 2 to 1
Change CO 3 to 2

Or if all are already in group 1 just change CO 3 to group 2 and see if that works.

Might not work manual states that it starts from the highest line number connected groups apparently mean nothing.

use voicemail or disa on that line let either on of those decide if a call is a fax or not.if fax line is included in incoming hunt group
this is the best way to handle calls that arrive on fax number or if your fax machine has fax / tad option you can wire your ext jack on your fax machine to the line 3 position on your system and let your fax machine determine if incoming call is a voice call ....

trunk groups on the tes is for ars
you could setup ars to send the calls out ines 321
or turn off auro line acces for line 3 and if the want to use that line they dial 83

I have such a connection with a client but simply connected the FAX as an extension and routed FAX calls to that extension - Automatically detected and every thing works fine.

Try it that way.

Perhaps attach your config for viewing.

Note: the line has to be answered by the disa first for fax detect to work, other than that it works fine.
