KX-TA624 not autopopulating mailbox number on TVP100?

Hi

I've just added a TVP100 to our existing KX-TA624-1 system

We want it to run as a voicemail system.

I've followed many instructions (mostly for the TVS100) which state to integrate the two:

1) go to system option [130] - VM1 (APT) Port
2) Enable Jack 7&8 for Voicemail
3) Physically attach Jack 7 to Port 1 on TVP, Jack 8 to Port 2 on TVP using a 4-core line cord.

Now, when I ring jack 7 (ext207), it says BUSY and bleeps so I can't access the voicemail system. This happens whether or not the TVP is plugged in, it's almost as though the setting in [130] has made this extension inaccessible.

As an alternative, I've disabled option 130, and then gone to option [102] and enabled Jack 7 as voicemail, and turned DTMF on in [103]

This allows me to ring jack 7. However, the TVP is unaware of the extension I'm ringing from. For example, if I forward my calls to voicemail, this works but the caller is asked to enter the mailbox number they wish to leave a message for.

I'm pretty sure the problems are down to not getting option 130 working properly. Whatever I do, it says busy when I try to ring this extension after enabling the option.

Many thanks for your help in advance!!

Ben

have you done anything with port service in tvp?

Hi

I've made some progress, thanks for a lot of threads on this forum - thanks!

I still have one small problem:

1) I've ignored the [103]VM1 (APT) Port setting
2) Set [102[ and [103] to point to the correct Ext connected to VM (#07 + #08)
3) Set a circular hunt group on Ext 207 & Ext 208

The TVP has both ports set to Custom Service - this gives our welcome menu which then puts calls through to the correct extension

Everything seems to be working as it should now, the calls are answered and transferred, we can leave voicemail, pick up voicemail using the Message waiting Indicator, etc.

The only issue I have is that Ext 207 never seems to answer - the screen always shows it diverting to 208 (via the hunt group I presume) - this means it's still working but we have half the capacity for handling calls via the TVP

Any ideas - I think it's a problem with the KX-TA624 rather than the TVP as the line is always busy regardless of whether its plugged in or not

Also, another small issue is that when a call is transferred from the AA to the extension, there is a 1 or 2 second delay before the caller is connected, so our staff are saying "hello xxx" but the caller is missing this - any setting to reduce this delay?

Thanks!
Ben

624 transfer timer should be set accordingly effect how long a transfered and all exts in system should be set to call forward busy/no answer

also its real easy to forget to tell a mailbox that box 207 is paired with ext 207....

set call transfer sequence to fxd

Hi cwc3 - could you elaborate on your post please?

The first point about forward on busy/answer timing par- that would only affect when we have DND>Voicemail am I correct? That particular timing is fine, it's just when a call connects from AA to the extension and we answer, it says "You have a call" which delays the connection so the operator starts speaking then has to repeat the greeting - we need to cut this delay out (possibly by removing the 'you have a call')

What would the solution be regarding the Ext 207 never answering (this is connected to port 1 on the TVP) - only Ext 208 answers (port 2 on TVP)

Ben

Desregard what I said about 207(I use 165/166) and mailbox stuff .... remove what you did with circular hunt group ring each ext do each port answer ?
yes change transfer sequence to FXD on TVP to she will then do a blind transfer ....

just thought more about how you have the tvp set up and you may be better actually erasing the user one prompt "you have a call" especially if you are not using call forward busy/no answer to 207 ( which is the right way to do it so that you have proper internal call coverage...)

Thanks will give that a go - we prefer for no calls to go to VM if unanswered, we have enough staff who should be answering the calls!

Couple more questions if I may, if someone tried to transfer a call to me, but I dont want to receive it at present after speaking to our operator, I would like the option of them tranferring the caller to my mailbox. I see in the KX-TA624 manual that there's a 'transfer to VM' button you can program. However this doesn't seem to do anything and I wonder if it's because a) I'm on a TA rather than TD system or 2) I never got the [130] VM1 (APT) setting working properly. So, are there any workarounds possible - all I can see is very quickly turning my DND setting on and then getting them to transfer through to me again so it goes straight to VM. Bit fussy!

Also, I used some software to configure the AA. Until this point I could use HyperTerminal to configure. Now, the software configures correctly but when I try to use HT, it just gives a blank screen, even after power off/on. I would like to configure some of the COS settings which I can't via the software - how can I get the HT prompt working again?

Thanks v much for help so far

Ben

in the manual it says there is a 'transfer to VM' button which you can program on the KX-TA624 so if someone

Also, should add that the 'message waiting' button *does* transfer directly through to 'you have x messages' so it's automatically logging into correct mailbox, etc.

If that works how come the 'transfer to vm' button doesn't? I've programmed it (from memory 94+207# ?) but it does nothing (Ive been pressing that, then ext or that then ext button) but it just rings the extension, as though the >VM button hasnt been pressed?

does your manual say thst you need apits to have vtr-207 work?
